Activity Notes

This should be a great early to mid-fall hike through the more open forests of Hood's eastern slopes to Twin Lakes and back.

Th hike is a lollipop hike as we take the PCT south down from our trailhead at Barlow Pass and then take the Twin Lakes/Palmateer Point trails north to link back up with the PCT and back to our cars at Barlow Pass.

Our database clocks this hike at roughly 7 1/2 miles and 1100' of elev. gain, but if we circle the lower lake and hike out to Palmateer Point as planned, its closer to 10 miles and 1500' elev. gain.

If it happens to be warm enough we may take a swim in Lower Twin Lakes off the bluffs on the east side of the lake.

You will need a NW Forest Pass to park at the trailhead.
