Activity Notes

This will be the first 9,000'+ peak we summit on Sun 8/06/2023, the climbing day of our three-day backpack from Wallowa Lake. The summit block is 1,200' above the trail, which we'll leave at Tenderfoot Pass. There we will scout the south arm as described by SummitPost.

"The east running arms of the horseshoe provide two easy walk up routes to the summit from the vicinity of Tenderfoot Pass. The south arm is a longer and gentler climb, while the north arm is steeper, but shorter."

I've previously climbed the north arm and found it to require a low fifth-class bouldering move to gain the summit block. Wanting everyone to have success, I want to find this other way up.
