Several unimproved roads in the area are great for hiking, and lead variously to the edge of the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness and to the Wild and Scenic Salmon River. Be aware of bikers on the road. Also an easy loop around the lake to hike on. There is a campground/day use area. In the winter, this is a great place to snowshoe/xc ski.

Activity Notes

Plan is to head down off trail down a small gully towards Summit Meadows.  Once we reach the meadows, head south crossing the former air strip as we continue our trek to around West side of the lake.  At South end have lunch and then traverse East side of the lake to the air strip and retrace our route back to the cars.  Be prepared for winter conditions.  No cotton clothes.  Pace will be easy/moderate.  Distance: 5 miles, 600’ elevation gain/loss.
