Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

Activity Notes

We will climb from Timberline Lodge to the top of the Palmer Snowfield.  This is an excellent warm up for an actual Hood climb, as this is the route you take for the first 2000 feet of hiking.

We will be travelling on rope teams for part of the hike and will also have the opportunity to further practice.  Based on how much we cover on Saturday and team preference this can be more practice heavy or more of a conditioning hike at altitude.
