Activity Notes
Looking for one last camping trip before the fall rains set in? Join the Adventurous Young Mazamas for a fun and fascinating weekend of hiking and camping along the Metolius River. We'll leave Portland on Friday afternoon and drive over Santiam Pass to the dry side of the Central Cascades. We'll be camping at Allen Springs Campground on the Metolius River. On Saturday we'll go for a long day hike in either the Mount Jefferson or Three Sisters Wilderness Areas, then settle in for a nice potluck dinner after the hike (or east in Sisters, depending on the location of the hike). On Sunday we'll pack up camp and then go hiking along the beautiful Metolius River before driving back to Portland.
This should be a fun-filled weekend and a great end to summer hiking. I look forward to seeing you there!
Hikes: up to 20 miles round-trip between the two days, with up to 3,000 feet of elevation gain (probably less than this)
Drive from Portland: 320 miles round-trip
Note: We will be camping rain or shine, unless there is early-season snow forecast (this is very unlikely).
