Activity Notes

Keeping with tradition, the AYM Labor Day car camping trip will head far from Portland, this year to the heart of Deschutes National Forest south of Bend. Participants will have the opportunity to explore incredibly unique and off-the-beaten path locations including

  • Paulina Lake
  • the Newberry Caldera
  • Crack in the Ground
  • Fort Rock
  • Christmas Valley Sand Dunes
  • Salt Creek Falls to Vivian Lake
  • The Twins

(note that we will finalize the trip options closer to the time of the trip)

We have a large group camp reserved about a half hour south of Bend. A detailed prospectus will be sent to accepted participants.

Friday is a travel day and participants are not expected to take the day off work for this trip. Carpools will leave at various times on Friday per whatever you can manage with your work schedule. We will offer hiking activities on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Monday is also an optional day provided you have transportation back to Portland.

***Please note that a complete profile is required in order to attend this trip, especially the "Activity/Climbing History" and "Physical Activity" sections. While we always offer beginner-friendly activities, your profile helps us determine the general skill level of the group so we can appropriately plan activities for the weekend. Anyone who submits an application for this trip without a completely filled out profile will not be considered, no exceptions***.

Refund policy: refund minus $15 processing fee if we are able to fill your spot from a waitlist
