Activity Notes
Get ready for your summer climbs with this long (15 miles) conditioning hike that gains over 4000' while never seeming excessively steep or difficult.
We will move at a moderate to brisk pace (attempting to average 3 mph over the entire hike), and the leader will be "rucking" (carrying extra weight in his pack for a better workout). The leader will have extra climbing ropes and gallons of water for those who wish to level up their pack weight.
The kicker is that this hike is extemely beautiful: waterfalls, views, massive trees and the late blooming wildflowers in Larch Mtn Crater all make this one of the best, if not the best, close-in (45 minutes to the trailhead) hikes in the Portland area.
We will meet at the Mazamas Mountaineering Center, 527 SE 43rd Ave SE, PDX, at 7:30 AM to carpool.
Those that do not wish to carpool may meet us in front of the Multnomah Falls Lodge at 8:15 AM. We will begin hiking at 8:20 AM.
