This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

This hike will depart from the Equestrian Trailhead and continue up the Equestrian Trail before reaching a junction and continuing up the East Hardy Trail and ultimately ascending the east face of Hardy Ridge via the trail of the same name. Once we've reached the saddle, We'll continue North up the ridge to Phlox Point where we will pause for a longer bio/lunch break. From there, we will make our way back down from the ridge on the Western side, connecting with the West Hardy Trail and ultimately back to the trailhead. Expect the hike to last 5-6 hours including breaks. Discover Pass Required for Drivers. There is no phone service at the trailhead.

Equestrian Trailhead - Directions: From SR 14 near milepost 35, come to Beacon Rock State Park. Turn north on Kueffler Road. Drive 1.1 miles and turn right; drive 0.4 mile to the large equestrian trailhead, the start of this hike.
