Bell Creek Trail of the Giants

Activity Notes

This is a hike I've been eager to lead...it goes through a part of the Gorge that no one has seen much of in seven years.   There are some impressive giant cedar and hemlock trees along the way.

Carpooling from MMC, we'll drive to near the summit of Larch Mountain , and take the Oneonta trail to where it intersects with the Bell Creek trail.  Follow this to the Horsetail Creek Trail. Turn around as at a viewpoint high over Oneonta Creek.  We will not attempt to go down and cross the creek.  We can do that at a later time.

Length of hike is about 11 miles, about 1200 feet elevation change each way.
