The new, more southern approach to Neahkahnie Mountain features berry-filled miles of the Oregon Coast Trail that haven't yet found popularity. The trail gets crowded after passing the official south trailhead 2/3 of the way toward the dramatic high point above the Pacific coast.

Activity Notes

Starting from the Oregon Coast Trail head in Manzanita, we will possibly enjoy delicious ripe berries on a less popular section of trail. Once we pass the south Neahkahnie trailhead, we’ll have lots of company for the last part of our ascent. We’ll end up at a short rock scramble to a dramatic view of the Pacific Ocean. We’ll lunch there, and on our way down we will take a road that goes down and then up. That is, it’s an out and back, with a loop in the middle. Total stats are 6.6 miles and 1,450’.
