1) self arresting with an ice ax
2) Crampons and their correct usage in steep terrain
3) Glacier travel fundamentals
4) Rigging a crevasse rescue system, with anchors
5) Excellent cardio and ability to sustain it at high altitudes (14k summits are needed)
5 takes precedence over 4.
