Hiking in South Central Alaska

Activity Notes

Join us for a 7-day outing in wild Alaska where we will have 15 hours of daylight each day to enjoy a daily B- or C-level hike among dramatic glaciers, majestic mountains, moose, bear and other wildlife.

We will be staying in two modern houses 15 to 20 miles east of Anchorage, just minutes from beautiful 495,000-acre Chugach State Park that offers more than 280 miles of maintained trails. Our hiking will include a trip to Kenai Fjords National Park and a trail to the glorious, iconic Harding Icefield.

Covid-19 vaccination, the Mazamas Covid-19 Badge, is required of each team member for safety of the group.

Full payment is required by the signup deadline of June 1, 2022. Cancellation after July 1, 2022, will result in forfeiture in full unless and until a satisfactory replacement is found.

There will be a pre-Outing in-person meeting in June at Larry Solomon's house.

COSTS:

Participants should plan for two charges relating to this Outing: the deposit (as listed below and charged automatically upon acceptance) and the final invoice (remaining balance dependent on team size to be billed via emailed invoice). The team size, Leaders and Participants, could range from 10 to 12 members.

For Mazamas members, the deposit is $60. The total cost range (including deposit) for the 7-day Outing is $854 to $1053. For nonmembers, the deposit is $120. The total cost range (including deposit) for the 7-day Outing is $914 to $1113.

Participants are responsible for their travel and meals. Rental cars are scarce! Participants are STRONGLY encouraged to make rental car reservations immediately after signing up. Car reservations can usually be canceled later without penalty.
