DESCRIPTION:<p>Activity Notes</p>\n\n<p>Please wear sneakers\, hiking shoe
 s or other footwear appropriate for hiking on streets and unpaved trails.&
 nbsp\; Closed toe shoes are strongly encouraged.&nbsp\; There may be rain 
 or mud so please dress for the weather\, and bring layers.</p>\n\n<p>Flash
  light needed (sorry\, your phone won&#39\;t work for this!).&nbsp\; A hea
 dlight can substitute for your flashlight. Test it at home to be sure it w
 orks and has good batteries.</p>\n\n<p>No experience necessary and all peo
 ple are welcome.&nbsp\; No dogs or other pets please.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\
 n<p>You will be hiking on hills\, uneven terrain\, and potentially slipper
 y trails.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>Many participants don&#39\;t use poles b
 ut if you are more comfortable using them then please feel free to bring t
 hem.</p>\n\n<p>You may want to bring a granola bar or other easy to eat wh
 ile hiking snack (optional).&nbsp\; We don&#39\;t stop to eat.</p>\n\n<p>A
  water bottle in small backpack is helpful.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>A refl
 ective vest is helpful but not required.&nbsp\; No need to go buy one if y
 ou don&#39\;t have one.</p>\n\n<p>Please show up 15-20 minutes early for a
 n orientation and to be assigned to a group.</p>\n\n<p>When you arrive ple
 ase go into Keen shoes and ask for a free parking pass for their lot. Put 
 it on your car&#39\;s dashboard then come back inside and find the leader 
 who will help you figure out which group to go with.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\n
 <p>We usually have several groups\, going at different speeds and levels o
 f difficulty\, covering between 5 miles and 8 miles\, in two hours.&nbsp\;
 &nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>We hike every Tuesday and Thursday 365 days a yea
 r\, unless the temperature in Portland is above 95 degrees\, or Portland P
 ublic schools close for snow/Ice.&nbsp\; We do not have a hike on Thanksgi
 ving day or Christmas day.</p>\n\n<p>No smoking or vaping on hikes or on K
 eens property.</p>\n\n<p>You DO NOT have to be a Mazama to come\, and this
  event is FREE.&nbsp\; Please come join us!</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>
