DESCRIPTION:<p>Activity Notes</p>\n\n<p>Please wear sneakers\, hiking shoe
 s or other&nbsp\;footwear&nbsp\;appropriate&nbsp\;for hiking on streets an
 d unpaved trails. &nbsp\;Closed toe shoes are strongly encouraged. &nbsp\;
 There may be rain or mud so please dress for the weather\, and bring layer
 s.</p>\n\n<p>Flash light needed&nbsp\;(sorry\, your phone won&#39\;t work 
 for this!). &nbsp\;A headlight can substitute for your flashlight. Test it
  at home to be sure it works and has good batteries.</p>\n\n<p>No experien
 ce necessary and all people are welcome. &nbsp\;No dogs or other pets plea
 se. &nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>You will be hiking on hills\, uneven terrain\, and p
 otentially slippery trails. &nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>Many&nbsp\;participants&nbsp
 \;don&#39\;t use&nbsp\;poles but if you are more comfortable using them th
 en please feel free to bring them.</p>\n\n<p>You may want to bring a grano
 la bar or other easy to eat while hiking snack (optional). &nbsp\;We don&#
 39\;t stop to eat.</p>\n\n<p>A water bottle in small backpack is helpful. 
 &nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>A reflective vest is helpful but not required. &nbsp\;No
  need to go buy one if you don&#39\;t have one.</p>\n\n<p>Please show up 1
 5-20 minutes early for an orientation and to be assigned to a group.</p>\n
 \n<p>When you arrive please go into Keen shoes and ask for a free parking 
 pass for their lot. Put it on your car&#39\;s dashboard then come back ins
 ide and find the leader who will help you figure out which group to go wit
 h. &nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>We usually have several groups\, going at different s
 peeds and levels of difficulty\, covering between 5 miles and eight miles\
 , in two hours. &nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>We hike&nbsp\;every&nbsp\;Tuesday
  and Thursday 365 days a year\, unless the temperature in Portland is abov
 e 95 degrees\, or Portland Public schools close for snow/Ice. &nbsp\;We do
  not have a hike on Thanksgiving day or Christmas day.</p>\n\n<p>No smokin
 g or vaping on hikes or on Keens property.</p>\n\n<p>You don&#39\;t have t
 o be a Mazama to come\, and this event is free. &nbsp\;Please come join us
 !</p>
