Please wear sneakers\, hiking shoes or other \;footwear \;appropriate \;for hiking on streets and unpaved trails. \; Closed toe shoes are strongly encouraged. \;There may be rain or mud so please dress for the weather\, and bring layers.
\n\nFlash light needed \;(sorry\, your phone won'\;t work for this!). \;A head light can substitute for your flashlight. Test it at home to be sure it wo rks and has good batteries.
\n\nNo experience necessary and all peop le are welcome. \;No dogs or other pets please. \;
\n\nYou will be hiking on hills\, uneven terrain\, and potentially slippery trail s. \;
\n\nMany \;participants \;don'\;t use \;po les but if you are more comfortable using them then please feel free to br ing them.
\n\nYou may want to bring a granola bar or other easy to e at while hiking snack (optional). \;We don'\;t stop to eat.
\n\ nA water bottle in small backpack is helpful. \;
\n\nA refle ctive vest is helpful but not required. \;No need to go buy one if yo u don'\;t have one.
\n\nPlease show up 15-20 minutes early for an orientation and to be assigned to a group.
\n\nWhen you arrive plea se go into Keen shoes and ask for a free parking pass for their lot. Put i t on your car'\;s dashboard then come back inside and find the leader w ho will help you figure out which group to go with. \;
\n\nWe u sually have several groups\, going at different speeds and levels of diffi culty\, covering between 5 miles and eight miles\, in two hours. \;&n bsp\;
\n\nWe hike \;every \;Tuesday and Thursday 365 days a year\, unless the temperature in Portland is above 95 degrees\, or Portlan d Public schools close for snow/Ice. \;We do not have a hike on Thank sgiving day or Christmas day.
\n\nNo smoking or vaping on hikes or o n Keens property.
