 have a top rope belay card from a climbing gym\, be familiar with tying in
  with a figure-8 follow-through\, and know your basic top rope commands. P
 rior experience cleaning a bolted anchor is helpful but not required.\n\nT
 he Sunday Skill Builders happen one Sunday per month\, usually from 6 to 9
  PM. Registration opens approximately one month before the class. Topics w

 in the wilderness\, perform advanced patient assessment\, improvise equipm
 ent and cope with wilderness-specific conditions. It will build upon the W
 FA foundation where you are caring for people who become ill or injured fa
 r from definitive medical care while acting as a part of a climbing team i
 n alpine or rock mass casualty incidents. Emphasis is placed on long term

  use Saturday night and Sunday. Students and volunteers are welcome and en
 couraged to arrive on Saturday evening and stay overnight at the lodge. Pl

 , 2026 PAS Refresher activity if you&#39\;re planning to come to the lodge

 s skill builder is the completion of a minimum 16 hour Wilderness First Ai
 d (WFA) training course. This 16 hour certification or a more advanced wil
 derness first aid training (i.e. MFA\, WFR or WUMP) must be current at the
  time of the MFA skill-builder training date.\n\nIf you are a Mazamas Clim
 b Leader\, please reference the Mazamas Climb Leader Google site for addit

 le group.\n\nThe MFA skill builder is an 8 hour outdoor experience at eith
 er the Mazamas lodge in Government Camp\, Oregon or weather dependent alte
 rnate location\; Portland\, Oregon. The MFA skill builder will teach the W
 ilderness First Aid (WFA) provider how to apply first aid skills in the wi
 lderness\, perform advanced patient assessment\, improvise equipment and c
 ope with wilderness-specific conditions. It will build upon the WFA founda
 tion where you are caring for people who become ill or injured far from de
 finitive medical care while acting as a part of a climbing team in alpine 
 or rock mass casualty incidents. Emphasis is placed on long term patient c
 are management and specific injury evaluation. Climb leaders and ICS stude
 nts will have scheduling priority.
