Today\, it is no lon ger an island\, but it still feels like one\, being surrounded by the Sunr ise area of Mount Rainier National Park on its north\, Mount Rainier and L ittle Tahoma to the west\, and Meany Crest\, Banshee Peak\, and the Cowlit z Chimneys to the south. All in all\, this is a moderate scramble to a mou ntain that has wonderful views in all directions. For the most part\, LB R is an exfoliating moss-covered chunk of igneous rock\, however\, it has graciously provided one relatively clean route up its face (Hadley Grove: 2 pitch 5.8 sport).\n\nThe views from the top of the formation provide a g rand sweeping vista of the Columbia River Gorge and the trail off the top wanders through a lush grove of Douglas firs and a quaint rock garden popu lated by Pikas.
