DESCRIPTION:This loop hike will visit a great viewpoint on the Timberline
Trail and ford Newton Creek. Gnarl Ridge is among the more awe-inspiring
hikes on the east side of Mt Hood. If the mountain is visible at all\, our
photos should be spectacular\, especially if there is new snow. The river
crossings should be at their least gnarly in late October. The loop in th
e middle of our hike will be counter-clockwise\; we will return from the T

that bears its name\, but it&#39\;s forever compelling. The trail through

aim to take this route to the summit. That 0.6 mile trail will be explora

 hike 6.9 miles\, ascending 2\,750&#39\;.&nbsp\;\n\nWe can leave a little l

but vehicles will need to display a&nbsp\;NW Forest Pass or other federal
