Join us on a camping and hiking adventure in Utah’s Red Rock country!

We will be exploring Arches, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, Capitol Reef, and Zion National parks by day and camping by night.

Participants should be able to carry a light pack on slick, rock terrain involving the occasional exposed traversing and easy scrambling. Hiking at A to B level.

Activity Notes

          Join us on a car camping and hiking outing to Utah’s Red Rock country. 

We will travel to Aches, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, Capitol Reef, and Zion National parks. Participants should be able to carry a light pack, on Slickrock terrain involving occasional exposed traversing and easy scrambling. Hiking mostly at Mazama A to B level (less than 10 miles and 2000 feet elevation gain) - though opportunity to do harder hikes if desired.

Costs: $374 to $634 for group size of 7 to 17 (including leaders). Camping and Mazama fees included. Participants responsible for transportation, food, park entry costs. We will arrange carpools and gear sharing.

$100 deposit will be charged upon acceptance to the Outing. You will be invoiced for the remaining balance of the trip.

Day 1 (Mon, Sept 30) Fly or drive to Salt Lake City, then Meet at Zion National Park group campsite #E0001. About 4 1/2 hours drive from Salt Lake.

Day 6  Escalante Petrified Forest State Park

Day 7  Capital Reef National Park

Day 12  Dead Horse State park

Day 13 Canyonlands Island in sky

Day 15 (Mon Oct 14) Outing ends. Drive to Salt Lake for flight, or start drive to Portland . About 3 1/2 hours drive to Salt Lake.

Notes:

If you drive from Portland and do the whole trip, expect around 2600 miles round trip. If you fly to Salt Lake, then rent a car, round trip will be about 1100 miles.
